A traffic stop in San Bernardino results in the arrest of a felon for possession of a loaded firearm

SUMMARY: On July 4, 2015, at approximately 1:03 am, Deputy K. Kostiuk completed a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation near the intersection of N. Parkside Drive and E. 34th Street. During the traffic stop, 29-year-old Joseph Lamont Smith of San Bernardino was found to be in unlawful possession of a loaded handgun. Smith is a convicted felon on Post Release Community Supervision as a result of Assembly Bill 109. Smith was taken arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center.
