Firefighters Injured, Illegal Fireworks, Warehouse Fire in Florence, $1-3 mil Damage-#LASD Arson Investig
A fire that injured four firefighters and caused between $1 to $3 million in damage to three separate warehouses is under investigation by the Arson Explosives Detail of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
At about 9:40 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 2015, firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the warehouses blaze on the 7500 block of Maie Avenue, Florence area, in unincorporated South Los Angeles.
Witnesses stated a group of males, possibly juveniles, were seen shooting illegal fireworks towards mattresses located outside one of the warehouses. There are no suspects in custody at this time. Unlawful fireworks debris was recovered at the location and taken as evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, four firefighters suffered minor injuries. All four firefighters were treated on scene and released.
