On July 1^st 2015, at 11:25pm, SMPD Officers responded to a reported stabbing at the intersection of N. Fremont and Tilton Avenue.  On arrival, officers located a 23 year old male transient subject at the intersection with a serious wound to his neck area.  He was immediately transported to the nearest trauma center for treatment and is currently in stable condition. A witness who was with the victim said the suspect, known to both the victim and witness, attacked the victim with a machete and fled the area.

Suspect Gregorio Roque, a 65 year-old San Mateo resident, was located a short time later in the unit block of N. Fremont Street and subsequently taken in to custody.  A machete type weapon was used by Roque to stab the victim and was located in the immediate area. 

It appears at this early stage of the investigation that the victim, suspect and witness were socializing together near the intersection of N. Fremont and Tilton when an argument broke out between the suspect and victim.  Suspect Roque then brandished a machete and ultimately attacked the victim with the machete.  It is still early on in this investigation and detectives are still actively involved with this incident.  This is an isolated incident and as of this writing, there are no other suspects outstanding.

ARRESTED SUSPECT:

Gregorio ROQUE, a 65 year old male San Mateo resident, has been transported to San Mateo County Jail to be booked for Attempted Homicide.
