Celebrate Responsibly – and Happy Independence Day from the Santa Clara Police Department 
Santa Clarans love to celebrate Independence Day with family, friends, food and fireworks!
Whether you are hosting a celebration or attending one, designate a sober driver prior to the start of the festivities, use a cab, take advantage of the free Tipsy Tow program offered by AAA (800-222-4357, AAA-HELP) or take the public transportation (BART, CalTrain, Valley Transportation Authority, etc.). A little pre-planning can prevent a lifetime of tragedy.
The California Highway Patrol and local law enforcement will be out in force over the holiday weekend in an effort to provide the highest level of service to those using Bay Area roads, but also to reduce or eliminate fatal collisions. In 2014, 32 people were killed in California over Independence Day weekend. Of those killed, 70% were not wearing a seat belt.
