WEAPONS ARRESTS
On Thursday, June 25th, around 6:20 p.m., Ofc. DeJong conducted a vehicle stop in the area of 10th St. and I St. A loaded, concealed handgun was located in the rear seat of the vehicle. Fremont residents Omari Muhammed, 25, and Christian Munoz, 21, were both arrested on several firearms charges.

On Friday, June 26th, around 2 p.m., Ofc. DeJong and Ofc. Dinneen conducted a vehicle stop in the area of 7th St. and D St. The passenger had a loaded handgun concealed in his pocket. Kenneth Adams, a 20-year-old Sacramento resident, was arrested for a variety of firearms charges.

On Sunday, June 28th, around 4:45 p.m., Ofc. Rivas attempted to conduct a vehicle stop for expired registration tabs. The vehicle did not yield to police lights and siren, but crashed and rolled over several times while getting on Interstate 880-N at Alvarado-Niles Rd. The driver was in possession of a family member’s handgun without permission. Juliana Vela, a 30-year-old Castro Valley resident, was arrested for evading police and multiple firearms charges.

ROBBERIES
On Thursday, June 25th, around 11:45 p.m., Ofc. Olson responded to the area of Alvarado-Niles Rd. and Union Square on reports of a robbery. While a victim was walking home from the BART station, two suspects knocked him to the ground and demanded his property. They stole his wallet and cell phone, then fled on foot toward the BART station. The first suspect was described as a Hispanic male, 18-25, 5’10” to 5’11” tall and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect was described as a black male, 18-25, 5’10” to 5’11” tall and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.

On Friday, June 26th, around noon, Ofc. Jimenez responded to the Walmart parking lot at 30600 Dyer St. on the report of a robbery. The victim said she was sitting in her vehicle, when a suspect approached her window and asked for directions. He then demanded her purse and ran to a waiting vehicle, which fled the scene. The victim’s wallet, with missing cash, was later found in the Lowe’s parking lot. The suspect was described as a black male, 20-25, 6’0” to 6’3” tall and 160-180 lbs. He left in a white Toyota with a partial plate of 5WE008. The vehicle was later involved in a pursuit with CHP, and was eventually recovered unoccupied.

WEEK IN REVIEW

Assault with Deadly Weapon:
On Wednesday, June 24th, around 1:15 a.m., Ofc. Turbyfill responded to Buffalo Wild Wings on reports of a battery. During a verbal altercation amongst friends, one subject apparently threw a glass at another. The glass did not hit the victim, who left the scene prior to police arrival. Officers are attempting to follow up with the victim to determine if prosecution is desired.

Vehicle Theft Arrest:
On Friday, June 26th, around 4 a.m., Ofc. Olson conducted a vehicle stop at the intersection of 14th St. and I St. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Hayward. The driver also had an outstanding warrant out of Santa Clara County and had a suspended driver’s license. There was a shaved key in the ignition, with more shaved keys on the keyring. Shaved keys are commonly used to steal older model vehicles. Patrick Simon, a 28-year-old Union City resident, was arrested for vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools, and driving on a suspended license.

Burglary Tools:
On Sunday, June 28th, around 8:45 p.m., Ofc. Jensen conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Industrial Pkwy. and Whipple Rd. The driver and passenger were both on probation. A probation search yielded a shaved key in the driver’s pocket. Lawrence Velasquez, a 34-year-old Union City resident, was arrested for the possession of burglary tools.

BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, June 22nd through Sunday, June 28th, there were no reported residential burglaries.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES
From Monday, June 22nd through Sunday, June 28th, there were no reported commercial burglaries.

AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS
From Monday, June 22nd through Sunday, June 28th, there were six reported auto burglaries. Four of them occurred at a restaurant in Union Landing while the victims were inside. Safety Tip: As a reminder, never leave items of value inside your vehicle!

From Monday, June 22nd through Sunday, June 28th, there were nine reported vehicle thefts. As of the time of this report, five of the vehicles have been recovered. One of the stolen vehicles was left running in the driveway for a couple minutes, while the victim ran inside the house to get a water bottle. Remember: Never leave a running vehicle unattended!
