Update- Arrest of Petaluma Carjacking subject in San Francisco

A San Francisco Police Department Officer initiated a traffic stop on the victim's vehicle for not having a rear license plate and a moving violation.  The officer learned that the vehicle was reported stolen after checking the front license plate, which was still attached to the vehicle. The driver and sole occupant named Matthew Vidor, a 27 year old transient from Sonoma County, was arrested without incident.

A detective and officer from Petaluma PD responded to San Francisco to interview Vidor. Detective Wirtz and Officer DeBaeke were able to obtain a confession from Vidor.  Vidor was transported and booked at the Sonoma County Jail for Carjacking pursuant to 215 PC, Felony Evading pursuant to 2800.2 CVC, Felony Elder Abuse pursuant to 368 PC and Assault with a Deadly Weapon pursuant to 245 PC.  Victim’s vehicle was towed to the PPD for processing.

Thanks to the San Francisco PD, Marin and Sonoma County Agencies and CHP for their assistance in this investigation.
