INCIDENT: PC 664/187- Attempted Murder

LOCATION: 10000 Block of Spyglass Drive, Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECT(S): Deshon Lamar Matthews, Age 22, of Highland
Baybra Jay Edwards, Age 21, of San Bernardino


VICTIM(S): Adult Male resident of Rancho Cucamonga


SUMMARY: On June 21, 2015, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Station responded to a report of a burglary in the 10800 block of Spyglass Drive. Deputies learned, between about 10:45 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., the suspects broke a window and entered the victim's residence. The victim awoke to find one of the suspects in his kitchen. The suspects shot at the victim but did not strike him. The suspects ran from the residence, entered a waiting vehicle parked in a nearby apartment complex, and fled the area. Through investigation, two of the suspects were identified as Baybra Jay Edwards and Deshon Lamar Matthews. On Thursday, June 25, 2015, Edwards and Matthews were arrested in the vehicle used during the incident. They were found to be in possession of loaded firearms at the time of their arrest. Both Edwards and Matthews appear to be active participants of a criminal street gang. Edwards and Matthews were booked into the West Valley Detention Center and were being held on $1,000,000.00 bail. Detectives are investigating the possibility that Edwards and Matthews may be involved in other burglaries within the city of Rancho Cucamonga.
