June 22-30, 2015


6/22/15

1105 Hours: Officer Lopez arrested a 21-year-old male (Newark) on Sycamore Street for an outstanding warrant.

1111 Hours: Officer Musantry investigated the theft of a vehicle on Cedar Blvd. The vehicle was described as a white Ford F350 truck. The time frame of the theft is unknown.

1524 Hours: Officers responded to the intersection of Mowry Ave. and Alpenrose Court for an outside assist for the Alameda County Fire Department. An underground transformer had blown and power was out at Newpark Mall and the surrounding area. NPD Officers arrived and assisted with traffic control and stop sign placement.

1443 Hours: Officer Musantry handled a shoplifting incident at the NewPark Mall JC Penny Store. A juvenile was arrested for theft and was later released to a parent.

1834 Hours: Officer Norvell responded to a disturbance call on Fountaine Avenue and arrested a 25-year-old male (Newark) for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

1845 Hours: Officer Homayoun responded to the City of Oakland to interview a suspect who was detained by Oakland Police due to a Newark warrant. Officer Homayoun arrested a 39-year-old male (Oakland) for his outstanding warrant.

2025 Hours: Officer Jackman responded to a restaurant near NewPark Mall and arrested a 43-year-old male (Newark) for public intoxication.


6/24/15

0724 Hours: Officer Stone investigated an auto burglary that occurred on Parada Street. The theft occurred overnight and entry was gained via a window smash.

1421 Hours: Officer Kovach contacted a 29-year-old male (Newark) at Newark Blvd. /Brittany Ave. and arrested him for being under the influence of a controlled substance.

1441 Hours: CSO Verandes investigated an auto burglary that occurred on Cherry St. near Mayhews Landing Park. The theft occurred in the late morning hours and entry was gained via a window smash.

1527 Hours: A juvenile male (Newark) came to the Newark Police Department Lobby and turned himself in for an outstanding warrant.

2019 Hours: A 42-year-old female (Newark) was arrested by Officer Taylor for assault at the NewPark Mall Macy’s store.


6/25/15

0404 Hours: Officers Sandoval and Homayoun responded to the City of Fremont and arrested a 26-year-old male (Newark) for a domestic violence incident that occurred in Newark earlier that day on Sycamore Street.

1516 Hours: Officer Horst investigated a theft from a storage unit on Fircrest Street. The theft occurred sometime within the past 3 months.

1635 Hours: CSO Parks investigated a theft of a vehicle on Mistflower Ave. A green 1996 Honda Accord was stolen during the late afternoon hours.

1737 Hours: Officer Horst investigated a residential burglary that occurred on Ruschin Drive. Officer Horst arrested a 63-year-old male (Newark) for burglary and for the illegal possession of a controlled substance.


6/26/15

0742 Hours: Officer Stone investigated a theft of a vehicle on Walnut Street. A blue 1988 Toyota Camry was taken overnight.

1057 Hours: Officer Stone investigated an auto burglary that occurred in a parking lot on Jarvis Ave. An unknown suspect gained entry to the vehicle by breaking a window and the incident occurred during the early to mid-morning hours.

1432 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated a theft of a vehicle from a business on Mowry Ave. A white 1991 Nissan 240SX with a black hatchback was stolen during the afternoon.

1602 Hours: Officer Stone handled a shoplifting incident at the NewPark Mall Macy’s store. Officer Stone arrested a 23-year-old female (East Palo Alto) for Petty theft.

1856 Hours: Officer Fredstrom arrested a 58-year-old male (Newark) for public intoxication at a shopping center on Thornton Ave. and Cedar Blvd.

2100 Hours: Officer Fredstrom arrested a 41-year-old male (Redwood City) for a restraining order violation on Rich Ave.


6/27/15

0200 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated a theft of a vehicle on Ash Street. A White 2000 Chevrolet Metro was taken between the late afternoon and early evening hours.

1346 Hours: Officer Lopez responded to Cedar Blvd. regarding a restraining order violation. Officer Lopez arrested a 54-year-old female (Newark) for a restraining order violation and for resisting arrest.

1553 Hours: Officer Jackman responded to NewPark Mall Macy’s for a shoplifting incident. Officer Jackman arrested a 21-year-old male (Newark) for Petty Theft.

2000 Hours: Officer Simon arrested a 31-year-old male (Newark) for the illegal possession of a controlled substance on Arrowhead Court and Inverness Drive.


6/28/15

0722 Hours: Officer Stone was dispatched to an address on Dairy Ave regarding a domestic violence incident. Officer Stone arrested a 30-year-old male (San Jose) for domestic violence and false imprisonment.

1340 Hours: Officer Losier was dispatched to a welfare check of a pedestrian in the area of Cedar Blvd and Moores Ave. Upon arrival Officer Losier arrested a 32-year-old male (Union City) for the illegal possession of a controlled substance.

1750 Hours: Officer Jackman arrested a 56-year-old male (Newark) for a felony warrant.


6/29/15

0059 Hours: Officer Smith responded to a restaurant on Thornton Ave. and Cedar Blvd. for a report of a male passed out behind the wheel in the drive thru. Officer Smith arrested a 37-year-old male (Union City) for driving while under the influence of alcohol.

0448 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on Birch Street. Officer Khairy arrested a 21-year-old female (Newark) for public intoxication.

0927 Hours: Officer Musantry was dispatched to Shady Hollow Drive regarding a disturbance. Officer Musantry arrested a 48-year-old male (Newark) for resisting/obstructing a police officer and for a restraining order violation.

1416 Hours: Officer Losier was dispatched to an address on Tourraine Drive regarding a domestic violence incident. Officer Losier arrested a 19-year-old male (Castro Valley) for domestic violence.


6/30/15

1227 Hours: Officers responded to a report of three suspicious males tampering with a vehicle. Officers located the males in the Foxwood Townhome complex. As officers were trying to determine if the three had committed a crime, a juvenile male fled on foot and jumped a fence into the parking lot on the church on Dairy Avenue. He was apprehended a few minutes later without incident. The juvenile was arrested for an outstanding warrant, tampering with a vehicle, and resisting arrest.


1804 Hours: Officer Homayoun responded to Macy’s for two shoplifters in custody. Officer Homayoun arrested a 26-year-old male (Oakland) and a 27year-old female (Oakland) both for petty theft.
