Crime Drops in Oklahoma, 2014 Crime Report Shows

Crime in Oklahoma has dropped – according to the newly published OSBI Uniform Crime Report. OSBI tracks seven index crimes, which include murder, rape, robbery, and property crimes. Murder dropped 14% in 2014 whereas rape increased 6.5%. This increase may reflect the change in FBI’s definition of rape. For more information on this definition, visit this link: https://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/recent-program-updates/new-rape-definition-frequently-asked-questions
The full report can be accessed on the OSBI website: http://www.ok.gov/osbi/Statistical_Analysis_Center/Publications/index.html
This comprehensive report informs decision makers and the public as to what crime looks like in Oklahoma. It also gives law enforcement direction on resource allocation and allows them to address crime in their communities. The report includes clearance rates for violent crimes and an in-depth analysis of domestic violence in Oklahoma by county – a new addition to the report.
