The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of North and Central Georgia including Clayton County for today July 1, 2015. Clayton County is in the Marginal risk (green shaded area) for scattered severe thunderstorms from 2pm to 10 pm today.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected once again today as a series of upper disturbances embedded within the northwest flow aloft push across the state during daytime heating. A few storms could become severe. SPC has placed parts of North Georgia in a Slight Risk and Central Georgia in a Marginal Risk today. See attached Graphic.

WHERE:
Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible anywhere today. However, the more favorable area for severe storms will be along and north of the I-85 corridor where the strongest upper support is expected to be focused.

WHAT:
- Damaging winds
- Frequent cloud to ground lightning
- Locally heavy rain that could cause brief minor flooding
- Hail up to one inch size is possible, mainly across North Georgia

WHEN:
Expect showers and thunderstorms through the day, with the strongest storms generally occurring between 2pm-10pm. Thunderstorms may linger after midnight as the disturbances continue, however the severe threat should greatly diminish before midnight with loss of daytime heating.

CONFIDENCE:
Our confidence is medium to high for severe storms today.
