Please Celebrate Independence Day Responsibly

The City of Newark allows the use of “Safe and Sane” Fireworks through midnight July 4th. Safe and Sane fireworks can be identified with the State Fire Marshal's seal of approval imprinted on the packages. Enjoy your celebration on your private property. You must have the permission from the property owner if setting off fireworks on land not yours. Fireworks of any kind are not allowed in any of the parks with in the City of Newark. Parks will be closed at 7:30 PM on July 4th.

The City of Newark has a no tolerance policy on illegal fireworks. Generally, “illegal fireworks” explode or leave the ground. Those found in possession of illegal fireworks are subject to arrest and subsequent fines! On July 4th please call the FIREWORKS HOTLINE at 866/520-7233 (SAFE) to report individuals using, possessing, or selling illegal fireworks. Prior to the 4th of July feel free to contact the Newark Police at (510) 578-4237 to report firework violations.
