Stabbing suspect now faces three counts of attempted murder
A teen arrested last week for attacking his girlfriend and her parents with a knife now faces more serious charges.
Jordan Flores DeJesus, 17, of Isaac Drive in Nebo, was originally charged with three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
After further investigation last week, Lt. Andy Manis of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office added three felony counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Deputies were called to a residence on Isaac Drive in Nebo at 8:49 p.m. Wednesday, June 24 in reference to a stabbing. DeJesus lived at the house with his girlfriend, 18-year-old Brooke Martin; her mother, 37-year-old April Martin; her father, 36-year-old Derrek Martin; and Derrek and April’s two other children, who are 10 and 6.
Authorities learned that DeJesus had gotten into an argument with Brooke, went to his bedroom, returned with a pocketknife and began stabbing his girlfriend and her parents.
Brooke, April, Derrek and DeJesus all sustained injuries. They were transported to area hospitals and have since been released. The two younger children were not injured.
The suspect fled into the woods after the attack. He was apprehended a short time later by McDowell County sheriff’s deputies and troopers with the N.C. Highway Patrol.
