Chief Dan Flynn Receives the Norman Shipley Award
On June 25th, 2015 Chief Flynn was presented with the prestigious Norman Shipley Award by the Rotary Club of Marietta. The award honors outstanding individuals through professional conduct, excellence in service and high ethical standards in one’s profession.
The Normal Shipley Award was established in 1985 to honor the memory of Norman Shipley. Mr. Shipley joined the Rotary in 1949 and had a strong sense of service above one’s self. Mr. Shipley served his country in World War II, worked with the Red Cross, was a lawyer with an active practice and he also served as a Juvenile Court Judge for Cobb County.
Chief Flynn’s leadership within the Marietta Police Department and the relationship the police department has developed with the community were cited as some of the many reasons why he received the award. The Marietta Police Department is honored to be led by Chief Flynn and looks forward to what the future holds for the City of Marietta.
