Advisory

CARROLL COUNTY RESIDENTS ARE REMINDED TO BE AWARE OF THE FLOODING CONDITIONS.

Carroll County residents are reminded to be aware of the flooding conditions that we are currently experiencing along the Tippecanoe River and Deer Creek this weekend. Heavy rains throughout the County have caused many roads to be flooded or washed out. The Carroll County Highway Department has exhausted their inventory of signs and barricades because of all the roads flooded. Currently the flow through Oakdale Dam along the Tippecanoe River is at 11,500. Levels above 13,000 will flood the Tippecanoe River and low lying areas south of Oakdale Dam. The Deer Creek is also rising at this time. Carroll County residents who live along those waterways should closely monitor the rising waters and seek shelter before they become stranded. As always do not attempt to drive through deep standing water and watch for low areas that can flood quickly. Residents can log into the National weather Service website at http://www.weather.gov/ind/ for current conditions. In addition Residents can log into the NIPSCO website at http://www.nipscohydro.com/ to access water flows through Oakdale and Norway Dams.

Everyone should be aware that changing weather conditions can adversely affect the flooding conditions along any waterway. As more rain is expected to fall in the area please be aware that conditions can rapidly change and Carroll County

Agencies cannot accurately predict how these conditions will affect residents. If you live in/near those areas prone to flooding make sure you closely monitor the conditions as they change. The Carroll County EMA Office, Carroll County Sheriff, and Carroll County Highway will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
