Fallen Officer Blood Drive in Memory of Trooper Roy E. Jones
Lapel – On Wednesday, July 1st, there will be a blood drive from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. held in Lapel, at the Ford Street United Methodist Church, in memory of fallen Trooper Roy E. Jones. Trooper Jones was a trooper, assigned to the Pendleton Post, who died in a tragic car crash on July 3rd, 1979 as he rushed to the aid of the Markleville Marshall and a deputy, who were requesting assistance with a traffic violator.
Trooper Jones was a graduate of Connersville High School and a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War prior to joining the Indiana State Police in 1976. Those wishing to donate may call Betty (Jones) Taylor at 765- 617-2585 for an appointment. Walk in donors are also welcome.
