Driver Disregards Stop Sign and Causes Crash
Putnam County—This morning at 7:07, Indiana State Police Lieutenant Dan Jones, Commander of the Putnamville District, came upon a two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of US 40 at County Road 445 West.
Preliminary investigation revealed a blue 2009 Kia SUV, driven by 62-year-old Todd Fisher of Greencastle, IN., was northbound on CR 445 West and failed to stop for the stop sign at US 40. The Fisher vehicle then struck the side of a maroon 2007 Chrysler Sebring, driven by 28-year-old Shawn Hughes of Brazil, IN. Hughes vehicle came to rest inverted with Hughes being able to exit the vehicle on his own.
Todd Fisher complained of pain, but refused treatment at the scene. Putnam County Operation Life Paramedics transported Shawn Hughes to Putnam County Hospital for treatment of neck and shoulder pain. Seatbelts were in use by Hughes and Fisher. Fisher was cited for disregarding a stop sign.
Assisting Lt. Jones were the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office and Putnam County Operation Life Paramedics.
