Vigo County Man Arrested on Allegations of Child Exploitation
Vigo County—This morning around 10:00, Indiana State Police Detectives from the Putnamville Post, along with investigators from the Indiana State Police Cybercrime & Investigative Technologies Section, as part of the Indiana Crimes Against Children Task Force, served a Vigo County Division 3 search warrant at 2249 East Cottom Drive in southern Vigo County.
During a search of the residence and outbuildings, officers seized computers, computer related items, dozens of pornographic pictures and videos, and other evidentiary items. Those items were previewed and investigated on scene using a Indiana Crimes Against Children Mobile Forensics Vehicle.
Arrested: Thomas W. Julian, age 67, of 2249 E. Cottom Drive, Terre Haute, IN.
Preliminary Charges: (3) counts of Child Exploitation; (1) count of Possession of Child Pornography
The investigation began in early June of this year, after detectives from the Putnamville Post received a substantial tip alleging Thomas Julian possessed and produced child pornography. Two victims have been identified thus far and detectives are working to identify others. The lead investigator was ISP Detective Tony Guinn. Assisting were numerous detectives from the Putnamville Post, Investigators from the Indiana Crimes Against Children Task Force, Indiana State Police Cybercrime & Investigative Technologies Section, Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigations, Indiana Department of Child Services, Vigo County Prosecutor’s Office and Adult Protective Services of Vigo County.
Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
