Death Investigation in Sonoma

On Monday, June 22, 2015, at approximately 11pm, the Sonoma Police Department received a 911 call requesting an ambulance for a female who had shot herself and was non-responsive. Police, coupled with emergency medical personnel, responded to the 1300 block of Pueblo Ave, where they found the female deceased in her bedroom from an apparent gunshot wound. A handgun was found next to the deceased female.

Initial investigation revealed the deceased female was Colleen G. Ramirez, age 53, from Sonoma, who resides in the house with her adult daughter and another adult male. Interviews conducted on scene suggest that Colleen and her boyfriend, who was at the house at the time of her death, had been in an argument prior to everyone going to bed.

Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office Violent Crimes Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

The investigation is on-going, but all parties were cooperative and provided interviews.

An autopsy will be conducted this week to determine manner and cause of death.

Colleen’s boyfriend was arrested on an unrelated warrant and booked into the Sonoma County Adult Detention Facility.

If you have any information regarding this investigation, please contact Detective Sergeant Shannon McAlvain at 707-565-2185.
