4th of July Road Closures

The Morgan Hill community sponsors several events to celebrate the Independence Day holiday. The 2015 celebration will include a Family Music Festival downtown on Friday, July 3rd, where downtown Monterey Road will be closed from W. Dunne Ave to Main Avenue. The following events on July 4th (listed chronologically): a 5K run, parade and fireworks. The fireworks celebration will take place at the Outdoor Sports Complex on Condit Road. All these events attract a great number of people from Morgan Hill as well as surrounding communities.

Temporary road closures and traffic control are necessary to safely accommodate the increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic. During the Family Music Festival portions of Monterey Road through downtown will be closed to vehicle traffic. The following morning, Monterey Road through downtown, Main Avenue, Peak Avenue and W. Dunne Avenue will be closed to all vehicle traffic from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm for the parade. Please remember after the conclusion of the parade there are three ways to get to U.S. Highway 101; Cochrane Rd. Dunne Ave and Tennant Ave.

On the evening of July 4th, roadways surrounding the Outdoor Sports Complex will be restricted and intersections will be controlled at the conclusion of the fireworks. Vehicle traffic traveling east on E. Dunne Ave to U.S. Highway 101 will be affected during the conclusion of the fireworks festivities. All vehicle traffic heading east on E. Dunne to U.S. Highway 101 will not be allowed to cross over onto the east side of U.S. Highway 101 and E. Dunne Ave until after all fireworks traffic has been released. Vehicles parked on Murphy Ave will be directed to Dunne Ave and then on to northbound Condit Rd. Vehicles parked on Condit Rd. will be directed onto westbound Dunne Ave.

The Morgan Hill Police Department is encouraging anyone who might be traveling in these areas to do so prior to the event to avoid confusion. As with each event of this magnitude, the success of the event is dependent on the flexibility and cooperation of the Police Department and the community. Morgan Hill Police wants everyone to have a happy and safe 4th of July weekend.

Anyone with questions or concerns regarding this event can contact Sgt. Thomas at (408) 779-2101 or visit morganhillfreedomfest.com for parade and event information.
