Four Walk Away from Roll Over

Jasper County-A Aurora, Illinois woman and three of her friends were able to walk away from a roll over crash with minor injuries because they chose to wear their seat belts.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Andrew Rasala revealed at approximately 7:00 a.m., this Monday, June 22, 2015, morning a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo, driven by Keyesha N. Dickerson, 22 of Aurora, Illinois was northbound on I-65 in the left lane at the 205 mile marker (this is approximately 4 miles north of the Wolcott/Remington exit).  Dickerson hit a pot hole which caused her to lose control of her Chevrolet; she veered into the right lane, came back to the left, over corrected, and went off the roadway.  Her Aveo hit the grassy median where it bottomed out and started to roll.  The Aveo completed three quarters (3/4) of a roll and the undercarriage made contact with the cable barrier system.

The cable barrier stopped the Aveo from completing a full roll, and/or continuing to roll, and from going into the southbound lanes of traffic.

The Aveo after hitting the cable barrier rolled back onto its hood in the grassy median.  Dickerson and her passengers were able to walk away from the scene with minor to no injuries.

All were wearing their seat belts.  Dickerson was taken to Jasper County Hospital in Rensselaer with complaint of pain to her neck, her passengers were not injured.

Dickerson was cited for Driving While Suspended-Infraction.  Her vehicle was towed.

Trooper Rasala stated, “Lucky that everyone involved chose to wear their seat belts and came away with minor to no injuries.  More important was the cable barrier system that is in place at this location, this caused the Aveo from coming into southbound traffic and stopped it from rolling more than it did”.
