OPERATION SUMMER SWEEP: 33 McDowell residents arrested last week on 46 outstanding warrants 
Local and state authorities, assisted by federal agents, rounded up 33 suspects on 46 warrants in McDowell County last week.
“This is a multi-jurisdictional effort that allows us to pick up offenders who have had outstanding warrants against them for a long time,” said Sheriff Dudley Greene.
The charges included felony probation violation, parole violation, assault with a deadly weapon, failure to appear and assault on an officer.
Participating in Operation Summer Sweep Tuesday, June 16 and Wednesday, June 17 were members of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office, Marion Police Department, N.C. State Bureau of Investigation, N.C. Department of Public Safety, N.C. Department of Revenue and the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force.
“We appreciate everyone’s cooperation,” said Greene. “Without each person’s input and knowledge, the operation would not have been such a success.”
These types of roundups are conducted each month in various counties, and there will be more in McDowell County.
