Melissa Capps, of Marion, charged with four felonies in connection with apartment break-in
Lt. Andy Manis of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Melissa Joetta Capps, 37, of Open Valley Road in Marion, with one felony count each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods and obtaining property by false pretense.
Angelia Talley reported on Nov. 4, 2014, that someone broke into her apartment on Airport Road and stole more than $32,000 worth of property, including jewelry, clothes, household goods, food, collectable coins, two DVD players, a video game system and a “Last of the Mohicans” tomahawk.
Manis said an investigation led to Capps, who is acquainted with the victim. Capps stole the items and pawned some of them.
A portion of the property has been recovered.
