On 6/20/2015 at approximately 10:50 pm, a Sonoma County Deputy Sheriff was stopped behind a vehicle at the intersection of Commerce Blvd and Rohnert Park Expressway in Rohnert Park. The driver of the vehicle slammed on its brakes then began to immediately back up causing the deputy to have to back up to avoid a collision. The suspect vehicle then pulled forward and fled. The deputy pursued the vehicle as it got onto Northbound Highway 101. The suspect failed to yield to the deputy and reached speeds of approximately 90 MPH. Just prior to this the suspect vehicle struck the vehicle in front of it and was trying to flee from that collision. This was observed by a Rohnert Park Public Safety Officer who happened to be across the street and immediately joined the pursuit with the deputy when it began.
The suspect vehicle sideswiped a motorist while changing lanes on Highway 101 and exiting onto Golf Course Dr. The suspect then struck three more vehicles on the off ramp causing one vehicle to flip onto its side.
The suspect, a 39 yr old female identified as Yolanda Grose from Rohnert Park was immediately taken into custody. Two of the three occupants of the victim vehicle that flipped were trapped inside and had to be extricated by Fire/Rescue personnel. All involved were transported to local hospitals with various injuries. The suspect Grose was treated for minor injuries and transported to jail. Grose was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for Felony Evading, DUI with injuries and Hit and Run. RPDPS is investigating the original Hit and Run incident and the California Highway Patrol is investigating the ending vehicle collision. The entire incident was less than a minute and traveled approximately one mile.
