WHAT: Major Injury DUI Collision

SUSPECT: Dennis Whittinghill, 63 year old resident of Los Osos
PEDESTRIAN: Alvino Figueroa, 89 year old resident of Redlands

On June 19, 2015 at approximately 6:04 PM officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian in the 600 block of Higuera. The vehicle was turning W/B onto Higuera from N/B Broad and struck the pedestrian. The pedestiran was transported to the hospital by ambulance and is currently being treated for his injuries.
A DUI investigation was conducted at the scene and the driver was arrested for felony DUI resulting in the injury of another.
The collision investigation is being handled by the traffic safety unit of the San Luis Obispo Police Department. More details will be released at a later time.
