“Police Blotter” Highlights – Ending June 14, 2015

CRIMINAL THREATS

On Sunday, June 14, 2015 around 3:00p.m, UCPD Officers were dispatched to Contempo Park to investigate an attempted rape involving four female victims ranging from the ages of 10 years to 14 years old. Officers learned the young ladies were attending a family party when they went to the park restroom. As they were about to exit the restroom, the suspect entered and said something similar, “Everyone out of my bathroom before I rape you”. Two females were able to flee, while the other two were left hiding in the stalls. The suspect made comments about wanting to sexually assault the victims. An adult family member entered the restroom and the suspect fled. The relative followed the suspect, and with the assistance of other family members, was able to detain him until police arrived. The suspect was identified as Khanh Ho, 30 years old, a Transient from Union City. Ho was arrested on several charges including: PC 647.6 Annoy/Molest children and PC 422 Criminal Threats. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail and is currently being held without bail.

WEEK IN REVIEW

VANDALISM

On Monday, June 8th at around 2:30am, Ofc. Olsen was conducting extra patrol checks at a business complex on Kohoutek Way, when it was discovered that several buildings and vehicles had been vandalized with paint and eggs. Based on the graffiti, the vandalism appears juvenile in nature and there did not appear to be any specific businesses targeted.

BURGLARIES AND CAR THEFTS

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES

From Friday, June 12th through Sunday, June 14th there were four reported residential burglaries:
1. Osprey Drive- entry point was smashed glass sliding backdoor
2. Pelican Drive- entry point was side garage door kick-in
3. Kawella Circle- entry point was unlocked front window
4. Lilac St- entry point – the home is undergoing a remodel- not fully secured

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES

On Tuesday, June 9th, 2015 around 8:00pm an unknown suspect stole two Dyson Vacuum Cleaners from Best Buy. The high-end models are retailed at $600.00 each with a total loss of $1200.00. The suspect is described as a tall, thin, older, white male adult who was seen running to a waiting vehicle described as a faded blue, older model, Toyota, with a camper shell. The vehicle fled the scene prior to UCPD arrival.

AUTO BURGLARIES AND VEHICLE THEFTS

VEHICLE THEFTS

On Thursday, June 11th, 2015 there were three reported vehicle auto burglaries that took place at the same apartment complex located on Mission Blvd. The burglaries are believed to have taken place sometime between the hours of 7:00pm on evening of June 10th through 6:00am on the morning of June 11th. The items reported as being taken were, a pair of “Nike” shoes and a black/red ESPN baseball cap. At this time, it is not known if these burglaries are related.

STOLEN VEHICLES

From Monday, June 8th through Sunday, June 14th there were nine reported stolen vehicle thefts. As of the time of this report, four of those vehicles have been recovered.
