The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 9:30 a.m. today to assist the Santa Barbara County Fire Department with a diesel spill from an abandoned, unregistered trailer at the corner of Kendale Rd. and Odense St. in Buellton.  It is suspected that the driver of a light colored Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC SUV unhooked and abandoned the trailer when he discovered the diesel spill.  Sheriff’s deputies have obtained information that the trailer came into Buellton from Highway 101 Southbound. They believe the up to 440 gallons of red diesel fuel was stolen from an agricultural or industrial user.  The Sheriff’s Office is asking residents with large quantities of red diesel to review their inventory and report any missing fuel to local law enforcement.  If you have any information that would assist in this case you are asked to call the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office at 805-683-2724.
