Fatal Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Collision

On 06-18-15 at 8:06 p.m., a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurred in the
intersection of El Camino Real and Alejandra Avenue, in the City of Menlo Park. Upon
arrival, the Menlo Park Police Department discovered that Emergency Medical
Technicians were rendering first aid to a downed pedestrian. Officers discovered that
the EMT’s had viewed the pedestrian in the roadway just moments after the collision.
Menlo Park Police Department arrived shortly after, discovered that the collision had
occurred and initiated the investigation. The pedestrian was transported to Stanford
Hospital where she ultimately succumbed to her injures. The pedestrian has been
identified as 86 year old Menlo Park resident.
The driver of the vehicle was contacted at the scene where he was interviewed and
released.
Preliminary investigation indicated when struck by the vehicle, the pedestrian had been
walking in or about the crosswalk. During the course of this incident there were no 911
emergency calls received, and police were unable to locate any witnesses.
This case is under active investigation by the Menlo Park Police Department. Anyone
