Advisory

GPD Fireworks Task Force seizes over 2 tons of illegal fireworks.

Over the last few days, a Gardena Police Fireworks Task Force has been working within the City. There have been numerous arrests for fireworks related offenses and, so far, over two tons of illegal fireworks have been confiscated by members of this task force.

The Gardena Police Department will be conducting strict enforcement of fireworks laws this Fourth of July season, in an attempt to educate the public of the dangers of using illegal fireworks. Our goal is to prevent injuries caused by the possession and/or mishandling of fireworks, both legal (Safe and Sane) and illegal.

Remember, Safe and Sane fireworks may be possessed from June 28, 2015 beginning at 12:00 PM, until July 4th, 2015 at 10:00 PM. Per statute, Safe and Sane fireworks may only be discharged from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM on July 4th. Illegal fireworks (not Safe and Sane) are not to be used or possessed at anytime.

Notify the police if you see illegal fireworks being used.
