McDowell County Sheriff’s Office investigators still need the public’s help pinpointing the person who shot a man to death Wednesday morning.
Deputies responded to a call of a welfare check in Deer Park Gardens in Nebo at approximately 1 a.m. Wednesday. While en route, they came upon a man lying partially in the roadway at the intersection of Pinnacle Church Road and Pinnacle Heights Drive.
The man, identified as 39-year-old Christopher Wayne English, of Pinnacle Heights Drive in Nebo, was still alive at the time, but, despite life-saving efforts by deputies and paramedics, died a short time later at the scene.
An autopsy Thursday revealed that English had been shot multiple times in the upper body with a handgun.
No arrests have been made in the homicide, but an investigation is ongoing. Detectives are following up on leads and interviewing potential witnesses.
