#LASD Homicide Bureau is Seeking the Public's Help with Information Regarding the Murder of 19-year-old, Vicente Castillo ** Reward Offered**
Homicide detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in obtaining any information related to the murder of 19 year-old Vicente Castillo.
On December 23, 2014, Mr. Castillo was shot to death while driving his vehicle near the intersection of White Avenue and Rose Street, Compton. At the time of the incident, Mr. Castillo stopped adjacent to a vehicle he inadvertently believed was being driven by a friend. The driver of the vehicle exited, approached Mr. Castillo as he sat behind the wheel of his vehicle, and shot him for no apparent reason.
Mr. Castillo suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body and was transported to Saint Francis Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries, hours after the assault.
The City of Compton as well as the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has collectively offered a reward of $20,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.
Mr. Castillo was a full time student at Cal State University Long Beach, and was set to begin playing with the Barcelona, Spain developmental soccer team, which is associated to the Galaxy professional soccer team. He is survived by his mother, Maria Ponce, his sister and brothers.
The family spoke at a press conference today and also urged the public to help find the person(s) responsible for Vicente's murder.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is seeking any information to assist in identifying the suspect responsible for the senseless murder of Mr. Castillo.
