Five Injured During Three Vehicle Crash On I-65 Near Seymour

Seymour - Five people were injured during a three vehicle crash on I-65 in Seymour Monday afternoon.

According to Indiana State Police Trooper Matt Holley, on June 15, 2015 around 3:32 PM Kara Terrell-Curtis 38, of Avon, Indiana was driving a green 1998 Honda Civic south on I-65 within the 55mm when she drove into the back of a white 2012 Ford van being driven by Michael Moberly 36, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. The white Ford van went forward and struck the rear of a 2003 Kenworth tractor pulling a silver 2001 Reit trailer that was operated by Jose Rodriguez 63, of East Chicago, Indiana. Trooper Holley stated, “The driver of the green Honda did not slow down and is believed to have run at speed into the back of the white van.” Moberly and three other  people in the van were injured as well as Terrell-Curtis, who was extricated from her vehicle by Seymour Fire-fighters before being flown by medical helicopter to St. Vincent in Indianapolis.

Moberly, Brandon Jeffries 27, and John Perry 49, each complained of back pain. Neal Banta 21, may have sustained a fracture to his arm. All were transported by ambulance to Schneck Medical Center. Terrell-Curtis is being treated for serious injury at St. Vincent Hospital. Rodriguez did not report any injury.

Traffic was backed up on I-65 south as motorists were funneling to one lane at a construction site near the 50mm.

Trooper Holley was assisted at the scene by Trooper Stephen Wheeles, Jackson County EMS and Seymour Fire Department.
