Victorville - David Givens, arrested for Grand Theft auto is also found to be on probation for a similar incident

LOCATION: 16000 block of Orick Ave., Victorville
SUSPECT(S): David Givens, age 56, of Victorville
SUMMARY: On June 13, 2015, deputies of the Victorville Station were dispatched to a Grand Theft Auto report in the area of Amargosa Rd x Palmdale Rd. The victim advised their 2006 Nissan had just been stolen by a black male wearing a tuxedo. The victim advised they had a vehicle for sale and the suspect, later identified as David Givens, stole the vehicle and was fleeing southbound on Amargosa Rd. Givens entered the I-15 south bound at Main St. with the victim following while giving updated information to Sheriff's Dispatch.
Traffic was heavy and Givens drove on the left emergency lane with the victim following. Area law enforcement was notified and air support was requested. Victorville deputies attempted to catch up to the fleeing vehicle, but were unable to due to safety concerns. The victim lost sight of their vehicle in the area of Oak Hills after it possibly was involved in a hit & run traffic collision. The victim responded to the Victorville Station to file a formal theft report and to identify the suspect, Givens.
On June 14, 2015, at 1:26 a.m., a deputy on patrol in the area of Village Dr. and Amargosa Rd. saw the reported stolen vehicle. A felony traffic stop was conducted and the driver, David Givens, was arrested. Given is currently on probation for a similar incident and was booked at the High Desert Detention Center.
