2 Injured in Crash


Sheriff Joseph M Underwood Jr. reports that his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash that occurred on 6/13/15 at approx 2030 hr in Jefferson Twp. at the intersection of Dailey rd and Pine Lake St. 44 yr old Edwardsburg resident, Ronald Pickens, and his passengers were North bound on Dailey Road when an East bound vehicle failed to yield to the right of way and proceeded into the intersection. This vehicle was driven by 19 yr old Minnesota resident, Claire Wendlandt. 2 of Ms. Wendlandt 7 passengers, 20 yr old Toby Gillett of the United Kingdom and 19 yr old Steven Thompson of Scotland, were injured in the crash and transported to Borgess Lee Hospital in Dowagiac Michigan. No one was injured in the Pickens vehicle and all parties in this vehicle were using seat belts. Only the front seat occupants of the Wendlandt vehicle were using seat belts. Alcohol is not a factor. This case remains under investigation.
