DOWAGIAC MAN INJURIED IN SILVER CREEK ASSAULT


Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood J.r. reports that on 6/13/2015 at 01:16 A.M. his deputies responded to a felonious assault that occurred at 30254 M 62 in Silver Creek Township. When deputies arrived at the residence they discovered that 29-year-old Joey McGauvran of Dowagiac had sustained multiple lacerations from an edged weapon. McGauvran told deputies that a 24-year-old male, whose name is being withheld pending formal arraignment, attacked him with a box cutter.

Pride Care Ambulance Service transported McGauvran to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.

After deputies completed their initial investigation they arrested the suspect and lodged him in the Cass County Jail. The Cass County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Dowagiac Police Dept., Pokagon Tribal Police Dept., and Pride Care Ambulance. The case remains under investigation at this time.
