Father Arrested for Neglect of a Dependent

Chalmers-On June 5, 2015 at approximately 7:00 p.m, Sergeant Jerry Holeman with the ISP Field Investigations out of the Lafayette Post was contacted by White County Child Protective Services of a two month old child at Franciscan St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette with life threatening injuries.

The investigation has shown that the child, while in the custody of the father, Conor Ty Jackson, 22 of Chalmers, IN allegedly was injured at approximately 1:00 p.m. on the 5th.  The child was transported by Monticello EMS to St. Elizabeth Hospital and then transferred to Riley’s Children Hospital in Indianapolis where on Tuesday June 9, 2015 at approximately 10:00 p.m, the child was pronounced deceased.  A preliminary autopsy performed by the Marion County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday has shown closed head blunt force traumatic injury non-accidental as the cause of death.

Jackson was arrested on a charge of Neglect of a Dependent Causing Serious Bodily Injury a Level 3 Felony and booked into the White County Jail on the 6th.  Other charges could be brought against Jackson after White County Prosecutor Bob Guy reviews the case when the investigation is completed.

Assisting Sergeant Holeman was the Chalmers Fire and Rescue, Monticello Fire Department, White County Child Protective Services and Marion County Coroner’s Office.

This is all the information that will be released.  All other information will be forthcoming from the White County Prosecutor’s Office.
