Muncie Man Arrested After Driving On A Railroad

Muncie – A Muncie man was arrested last night after officers responded to a call of a vehicle hung up on the railroad tracks in the area of Jackson St. and Morrison Rd. in Muncie. Trooper Bradley Tucker arrived at the intersection around 11 p.m. to find a 2001 GMC Yukon, just off the south side of the tracks, about 250 yards west of the intersection.

When Trooper Tucker walked out to the vehicle he found the driver, Brandon Michael Collins, age 20 of Muncie, had attempted to drive his vehicle down the tracks when he thought he saw a train approaching. When he attempted to back his vehicle off the tracks, it became stuck in a culvert off the south side of the railway.

All train traffic had to be suspended on the railway for crews to remove the stuck vehicle, as it was located so close to the tracks. Preliminary investigation revealed that Collins had a blood alcohol content nearly two times the legal limit of .08% B.A.C.

Collins was lodged in the Delaware County Jail charged with OWI, Illegal Possession of Alcohol, Open Container Violation and Driving While License Suspended. Trooper Tucker was assisted at the scene by Corporal Johnson and Deputy DeLaGarza of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department.

All Suspects Are Presumed Innocent Until Proven Guilty in a Court of Law
