UPDATE: Power outage in downtown Los Altos - PG&E responding now 
UPDATE: According to PG&E, power will be restored to the majority of impacted parties around 10:15 a.m. A few customers in the northwest corner of First and Main Streets are still without power; restoration time is estimated within 4 hours.
The cause of the power outage is reported to be two birds that flew into the transformer.

A power transformer blew out in downtown Los Altos at approximately 8:23 am in Plaza Central between First and Second Streets. Power is currently out in the surrounding areas.
Los Altos Police and Santa Clara County Fire Department are on scene awaiting PG&E response.
