Thanks to alert neighbors, burglary suspects caught in the 200 blk of Lexington Drive in Menlo Park

A couple of alert residents in the area of Lexington Drive called police at 10:18AM on June 8, 2015 to report suspicious activity in the 200 block of Lexington Drive. The residents saw a male loitering in the front yard of a neighbor’s house. One of the callers knew the neighbor was not home and became suspicious when another male showed up and entered the backyard of the neighbor’s house. The residents immediately called police to describe what they were witnessing.

Menlo Park officers arrived on scene and were able to set up a perimeter around the house. The suspects saw police outside of the residence and attempted to flee, but were unsuccessful. The suspects were taken into custody without incident at the front door of the residence after they were ordered outside. The residence was ransacked and items belonging to the suspects were located inside of the house. The suspects’ vehicle was located a few houses down from the scene.

The two burglary suspects, Christopher Sheard and Brandon Fields both 20 year old males of East Palo Alto, were arrested for residential burglary and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Thanks and appreciation is extended to the attentive and alert residents. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Menlo Park Police Department at 650-330-6300 or the anonymous tip hotline at 650-330-6395.
