6/6/15, press release: Resisting Arrest/False Information to a Police Officer

On June 6th, 2015 at approximately 3:30 PM Officers from the Vermont Department of Corrections Field Supervision Unit (FSU) reported that Kyle Wilson, 22 YOA, had just evaded their custody in the area of Church and Cherry Streets. At the time of this report Wilson had an active Arrest Warrant for Escape and was being sought by the Vermont Department of Corrections.

Moments later, Burlington Police Officer James Wu saw Wilson in the area of the Marketplace Parking Garage. Wilson fled the area on foot while ignoring commands to stop. Wilson ran onto the Church St. Marketplace where Officer Wu attempted to take Wilson into custody. Wilson physically resisted arrest at which time bystanders assisted Ofc. Wu in taking Wilson into custody without further incident. At the time of his arrest, Wilson provided a name other than his own to Ofc. Wu. Wilson’s identity was confirmed by the FSU Officers on scene at which time Wilson was lodged at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility.

Wilson will be arraigned in Chittenden Superior Court – Criminal Division Monday June 8th, 2015. Resisting arrest is a misdemeanor offense punishable by no more than one year in jail or a fine not to exceed $500. Providing false information to a police officer in order to deflect an investigation away from one’s self is a misdemeanor offense punishable by no more than one year in jail or a fine not to exceed $1,000.
