Husband of Former Daycare Operator Arrested for Child Molestation
Putnam County—This morning around 10:00, Indiana State Police detectives from the Putnamville Post arrested a Putnam County man for eight counts of child molesting. He was arrested without incident at his home at 1392 West County Road 350 North, Greencastle, IN. He was incarcerated in the Putnam County Jail.
Arrested: Michael Nussbaum, age 64, of Greencastle, IN.
Charges: (8) counts of Child Molesting
The investigation originated on May 16, 2014, when Putnam County Department of Child Services contacted the Putnamville Post requesting criminal investigation assistance. During the nearly yearlong investigation, state police detectives were able to establish probable cause that on multiple occasions, Nussbaum allegedly sexually molested three female victims at or near his residence. Nussbaum allegedly committed the acts in 2006 and/or 2007 when the victims were between the ages of 4 and 7 and attended his wife’s non-licensed in-home daycare operation.
The wife no longer conducts a daycare center.
The case was investigated by ISP Detective Mike Taylor. Assisting were ISP Detectives First Sergeant Jeff Hearon, Tony Guinn, Chris Carter, and ISP Crime Scene Investigator Sergeant Jim Cody, Putnam County Department of Child Services, Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office and Susie’s Place Child Advocacy Center.
