Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. of the Cass County Sheriff's Office reports that on 06/03/2015 at 21:34pm Deputies responded to a personal injury traffic crash on 96th ave near Burlington rd.
48 year old Norman Eugene Hand of Marcellus was westbound on 96th avenue when he left the roadway and hit an embankment causing the vehicle to go airborne and hit several trees. At this time it is unknown what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway.
Hand was air lifted from the scene by Air Care and transported to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI for treatment of his injuries. It appears that Hand was not seat belted at the time of the crash and speed is to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene was Marcellus Twp. Fire Department, Marcellus EMS, Michigan State Police, and Air Care.
