Indiana State Police Working One Vehicle Fatality Crash

Indianapolis, IN- Late this afternoon, trooper’s from the Indianapolis District responded to a one vehicle crash on the south side of I-465 that has resulted in one fatality.

At approximately 6:22 p.m. this afternoon, troopers were dispatched to I-465 WB at the .06 mm on the report of a single vehicle personal injury crash. Preliminary investigation reveled that a 2007 Chevrolet Impala operated by John Ferguson, 62, of Indianapolis, was WB on I-465 at the .06mm and for an unknown reason left the roadway and struck the inside concrete median wall. Emergency workers found Ferguson unresponsive upon their arrival and he and a female passenger, Amber Hines, 32 were transported to Methodist Hospital.  

Methodist Hospital staff pronounced Ferguson deceased upon his arrival to the hospital. Hines is being treated for non life threatening injuries.

Hines has no recollection of the crash and no witnesses have stepped forward to possibly explain why Ferguson suddenly left the roadway and struck the median wall. The Marion County Coroner’s Office will perform an autopsy on Ferguson and a possible medical condition will be investigated.
