We at the North Brunswick Police Department received word today of a possible phone scam going on. Residents have advised us that they are receiving phone calls from a number that shows up as "North Brunswick" on your caller ID. Once answered, the person on the phone is advising residents that they are collecting funds for "Law Enforcement" or a "Police Fund". First and foremost, never provide any payment information to anyone over the phone. This is usually always a scam. Second, the North Brunswick Police Department or anyone associated with us will never fund raise via telephone. Please hang up, and do not provide any payment or personal identification.
We are investigating the matter further, but believe the calls are being sent through a transfer station, originating in another country. Thank you for your time.
