Stabbing Arrest

Daniel Adam Jasso, age 24, of Santa Barbara, was arrested for the crime of assault with a deadly weapon following an altercation where Jasso stabbed the victim, a 24-year old man from Goleta. The victim’s injuries are non-life threatening.

On May 24, 2015 at 11:37 p.m., officers from the Santa Barbara Police Department responded to an apartment on the 400 block of W. Padre Street on a call of a domestic disturbance involving a woman screaming. Upon arrival they contacted the female resident of the apartment and the aforementioned victim, who was suffering from a laceration to his left arm and a puncture wound to his chest. The suspect, Jasso, had fled the scene. The victim was transported by paramedics to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital where he was admitted for treatment; he has subsequently been released.

Investigation revealed the following. The victim and the resident of the apartment where the incident occurred are currently in a dating relationship. The suspect, Jasso, is the resident’s ex-boyfriend. At the time of the incident Jasso, apparently angry that his ex-girlfriend was in a new relationship, went to the apartment to confront both her and the victim. When Jasso was refused entry into the apartment and told to leave, he subsequently pushed his way in through the front door. Jasso and the victim then fought inside the apartment, during which time Jasso stabbed the victim. Jasso then fled.

SBPD Crimes Against Persons detectives conducted follow-up investigation in this case. Detective Douglas Klug obtained a $30,000.00 felony arrest warrant for Jasso for the crime of assault with a deadly weapon and a search warrant for his residence on the 1200 block of Gillespie Street. On May 25, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Jasso was located at his place of work on the 00 block of W. Cabrillo Boulevard and arrested. Detectives executed the search warrant at his residence at 4:30 p.m. that afternoon. Jasso was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on the aforementioned charge.
