FIVE INJURED IN MILTON TOWNSHIP CRASH

Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood J.R. reports that on 5/25/15 at approximately 7:28 P.M. his deputies responded to a two vehicle crash near the intersection of U.S. 12 and Frantz Rd in Milton Township.

53-year-old Anne Glebe of Elkhart was eastbound on U.S.12. Glebe pulled over into the right hand shoulder of the roadway with the intention of turning onto Frantz so she get turned around to travel westbound on U.S. 12. A second vehicle, driven by 24-year-old Dawn Walter of Niles, was also headed eastbound on U.S. 12. Glebe made her left hand turn across the eastbound lane from the shoulder of the road without waiting for traffic to clear and was struck by Walter's vehicle.

Walter had three passengers traveling with her in her vehicle. They are identified as 36-year-old Samuel Slaughter of Niles, 6-year-old Levon Span, and 4-year-old Caden Span. The South Western Michigan Community Ambulance Service transported Walter and the two children to the Lakeland Hospital in Niles for treatment of their injuries. Slaughter reported minor injuries to deputies but was not transported for treatment by the ambulance. The drive of the other vehicle, Anne Glebe, also reported minor injuries but refused to be transported by medics.

All parties involved in the crash were using safety restraints and deputies do not believe that alcohol was a factor in
this crash.
