Suspects Arrested After Police Pursuit

A routine traffic stop Friday morning by a Danville Police officer became a pursuit which ended with two suspects in custody.

Lt. Allan Shields said the incident began shortly after 10:00 a.m. when a patrol officer attempted to pull over a 2000 Honda Civic on Sycamore Valley Road at San Ramon Valley Boulevard. Instead of pulling over, the vehicle fled the scene and a pursuit was initiated. Officers lost sight of the vehicle in the Contada Circle area of Danville. Citizens pointed police in the direction the vehicle fled. Officers were able to quickly locate the vehicle in the parking lot of 700 Ynez Circle, where another group of alert citizens pointed out the direction the suspects fled.

A search of the neighborhood was initiated. One suspect, identified as Amy Ramos, 23, San Leandro, was located hiding in a nearby van. Danville K9 Rony tracked Christopher Ramos, 27, Danville, to a home in the neighborhood and he was found hiding in the garage. Both were taken into custody without incident. The vehicle Ramos was driving was later found to have been stolen from Livermore on May 18, 2015.

Christopher Ramos has been charged with driving a stolen vehicle, possession of stolen property, and felony evading police in a vehicle and evading while driving the wrong way on the road. Amy Ramos has been charged with possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and a felony probation violation. Both have been transported to and booked into the Martinez Detention Facility.

“This was a great example of the community partnering with the police to stop crime,” Shields said. “I am very grateful for the alert citizens who helped in finding and apprehending these individuals.”
