Arrest in Theft of Fuel

MONROE – May 19, 2015, 5:47 pm: Monroe Police Officers were called to a residence in the 17300 block of 152nd St SE in Monroe. That morning the resident walked out to their pickup and realized both gas tank covers were opened and a gas cap was sitting on the rear driver’s side tire. The fuel line underneath the vehicle was also cut. The victim explained they had security cameras that captured the suspect on video. The officer viewed some still photos as well as the video that showed a male come to the residence on May 17th just before 11:00 PM according to the video clock. The male could be seen walking to the driver’s side of the truck carrying a gas can and tubing. He then crouches down near the rear of the truck, opens the gas cap, inserts the tube and begins siphoning gas into the gas can. He then moves to the second tank on the truck and siphons more gas. Finally, the male is seen sliding underneath the truck where the fuel line was cut. On observation of these videos, the officer recognized the male suspect. The victim estimated repair to the damaged pickup would be approximately $1200.

On May 20, 2015, James Abrahams, age 26 of Monroe was arrested for Malicious Mischief 2nd Degree and taken to the Snohomish County Jail for booking.
