South Bend Woman Arrested After Stolen Items Found During Traffic Stop

Tipton – This morning, a traffic stop by Indiana State Police Trooper Adam Duffitt led to the recovery of several articles of stolen clothing and the arrest of Temeia S. Taylor, 28, South Bend, IN.

Today at approximately 11:00 a.m., Duffitt stopped Taylor for allegedly driving a Kia Sonata 78 miles per hour, in a posted 60 miles per hour zone, on southbound U.S. 31 near Tipton County Road 375 North.  During the traffic stop, Trooper Duffitt noticed indicators of possible criminal activity. Trooper Chuck Meyer arrived to assist.

Further investigation revealed that Taylor allegedly provided the troopers an identification card with the information of another woman. It was revealed that Taylor was driving while having a suspended license. Officers also discovered numerous articles of stolen clothing inside Taylor’s car. Most of clothes still had security devices attached to them.

Trooper Meyer arrested Taylor who was then incarcerated in the Tipton County Jail to face felony charges for possession of stolen property and identity deception.  She also faces a misdemeanor charge for driving with a suspended license while having a prior conviction.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Two photos of  stolen items are attached.

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
