Four Vehicle Crash Gets a Driver Airlifted from Scene
Lake Station-Yesterday at approximately 11:13 P.M. (CDT) on I-80/94 near the 12.6 MM (that is just west of the 13 exit), three semis and a passenger vehicle collide sending the driver of the passenger vehicle to the hospital in serious condition.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Paul Arnold has revealed that a black 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt driven by Klementain Sibakoska, 25 of Portage was EB in the middle lane of I-80/94. She was following a white 2015 Freightliner pulling double trailers and driven by Jacqueline L. Sparks, 44 of Maywood, IL. Sparks was following a red 2014 International pulling a single trailer driven by Kelly L .Litton, 47 of Oakville, Manitoba Canada.
A black 2007 Kenworth pulling a single trailer driven by David Lawrence Turner, 48 of Fenton, MI was in the right lane of the interstate allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed when he made an unsafe lane movement into the center lane striking the Chevrolet in the rear. That shoved the Chevrolet into the rear trailer of the Freightliner, shoving the Chevrolet underneath the trailer, pinning Sibakoska in her vehicle. The Kenworth continued EB sideswiping the Freightliner as it passed and rear ending the International before coming to a stop.
None of the semi drivers were hurt in the crash. Sibakoska had to be extricated from her vehicle and Lifeline by helicopter to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, IL with serious injuries. Traffic was slowed for construction and the drivers of the Freightliner and the International had their flashers on at the time of the crash. Seatbelts were used by all drivers.
The Freightliner was hauling general freight, the International was hauling frozen foodstuff and the Kenworth was hauling frozen food products. No load was lost in the crash. Waffco Wrecker Service removed all the vehicles from the scene. No citations have been issued at the time because of re-construction of the crash and further investigation. Assisting at the scene was Lake Station Fire, EMS and Police and ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
