Construction Update

Week of May 18th ROAD CLOSURES

Paving Monday and Tuesday North End of Harbor Drive and Herondo Street

Most closures begin at 7AM and remain in place until 5PM - see below

Monday, May 18th

7AM: Harbor Drive - Marina Way through Herondo Street Intersection 

Beginning at 7AM, Monday May 18th, Harbor Drive will be closed from Marina Way through the intersection of Harbor and Herondo.

Local traffic requiring Yacht Club Way is directed to use Hopkins Way and Marina Way. Signs indicating 'Road closed to through traffic' will be posted at Beryl and Hermosa Avenue.

7AM: Herondo Street - Harbor to PCH

As a result of the closure on Harbor Drive, east-bound Herondo will be closed. Traffic movements during peak morning traffic south-bound from Hermosa Beach (Monterey and Valley/Ardmore) to east-bound and west-bound Herondo will be allowed until 9AM.

At 9AM, Herondo Street will close completely from PCH through Harbor Drive and at all crossings. No traffic allowed in or out including all driveways and crossings. The closure will remain in place until 5PM.

The contractor will pave the north lane of Herondo Street during this time.

Tuesday, May 19th

7AM: Herondo Street - East-Bound - Harbor to PCH

Beginning at 7AM, Tuesday, May 19 east-bound Herondo Street will be closed from Harbor Drive to PCH. Traffic movements during peak morning traffic south-bound from Hermosa Beach (Monterey and Valley/Ardmore) to east-bound Herondo MAY be allowed as directed by the contractor. However, traffic will NOT be allowed to cross over onto east-bound Herondo after the contractor has made the Herondo west-bound paving pass. Drivers and bicyclists should plan on Herondo east-bound being closed completely after 9AM.

Every effort will be made by the contractor to assist in keeping the traffic moving during peak morning hours.

7AM: Herondo Street - West-Bound - PCH to Harbor

Beginning at 7AM, Tuesday, May 19th, only the #1 lane of west-bound Herondo Street will be closed from PCH to Harbor Drive. The west-bound lane adjacent to the curb will remain open. Traffic delays will occur as the paving operation moves down the street with trucks and heavy machinery, however, driveway access and west-bound traffic to Harbor Drive will be allowed.

Fire, PD, USPS, UPS, FedEx and Waste Services have been notified.

Emergency vehicles will always have access

Throughout the week there will be work in Lot 13, on Harbor Drive and in the Herondo median. Street lights continue to go up along Harbor Drive. At various times througout the day as the crane maneuvers - traffic will be stopped.

Signing and striping will commence after the paving. Traffic WILL BE impacted and delayed throughout the week. PLEASE be patient.
